Forgive my father if he wronged you- Late Gen Elly Tumwine’s daughter to the public

Cynthia Tumwine the daughter to the late Gen Elly Tumwine has decided to pay her father’s indemnity by asking the public to forgive him wherever he wronged them knowingly and unknowingly.

While at her father’s vigil, Cynthia said that she hopes Ugandans let her father’s soul rest in eternal peace.

“While in hospital in Nairobi and while we were praying, one of the things we were convicted about was to seek forgiveness on his behalf. To ask God to forgive him for everything he did either knowingly or unknowingly. We seek forgiveness so that he is on a clean slate,” Cynthia Tumwine told mourners at the vigil on Sunday.

She further added that the family didn’t only pray to God for his forgiveness but also to the people.

And if there are those who wronged him, he forgave them because he was a man who constantly talked about forgiveness.

“I also wanted not to only do it with God but also do it here that in case dad wronged you in any way, please forgive him. If you also wronged him, he forgave you. He talked about forgiveness every time.”

She further complimented her father calling him a very brave and humorous man.

“I thank dad so much for his brave character. One of how he always used to tell us he was ready to die and would make fun of us being scared of death. Dad was so much fun. He was a very funny man. You have seen videos of him dance that have gone viral and that was dad on a normal day. He was so humorous and would try to catch up with trends even of our age. He was just so funny,” she reminisced with mourners.

The late General who succumbed to lung cancer is slated to be buried tomorrow at his upcountry home in Mukuru, Rwemikoma Subcounty in Kazo District.

He leaves behind a legacy of mixed reactions both full of bravery and controversy.
