Equity Bank Uganda has moved to deepen its partnership with the Church of Uganda, with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and strengthening communities.
The renewed engagement took place during the opening of the Provincial Assembly at Uganda Christian University in Mukono, which brought together Church leaders, education stakeholders and development partners.
Equity Bank’s delegation was led by Managing Director Gift Shoko and Public Sector and Social Investments Director Catherine Psomgen. They joined Archbishop Stephen Kaziimba, bishops and other Church and university leaders at the gathering.
The bank said its partnership with the Church of Uganda is centred on areas with the potential to generate sustainable community impact.
These include agriculture, environmental conservation, health, education and commercial initiatives.
Shoko said the areas identified for collaboration are consistent with Equity Bank’s social investment pillars as well as its Africa Recovery and Resilience Programme.
The partnership is intended to support initiatives that empower communities, improve livelihoods and contribute to addressing some of the development challenges facing Ugandans.
The Church of Uganda remains a strategic partner of Equity Bank, with the two institutions implementing programmes designed to extend development opportunities to communities across the country.
The UCU assembly also offered an opportunity for stakeholders to strengthen relationships and discuss areas of shared interest in Uganda’s social and economic development.
Equity Bank said it remains committed to working with institutions that can help advance inclusive growth and community resilience.
The collaboration illustrates the potential of partnerships between financial institutions and faith-based organisations in supporting development beyond traditional service delivery.
For the Church of Uganda and Equity Bank, the focus will be on translating the partnership into initiatives that deliver tangible benefits to communities in areas such as livelihoods, education, healthcare, agriculture and environmental sustainability.
