Gov’t should organise a special UCE exam for my son – Bebe Cool

Gagamel Entertainment’s Moses Ssali also known as Bebe Cool has expressed concern over his child (Alpha Thierry Ssali, a player with Proline Football Club), missing examinations while away in Mauritania with the Uganda U20 Boys’ national football team, the Hippos where they were taking part in the U20 AFCON were they finished second, having lost to Ghana in the final.

The Cranes were defeated 2-0 in the final with two goals from Afriyie Barnie, a feat which was satisfactory to many Ugandans due to the fact that this was Uganda’s first time at the tournament.

It is believed Bebe Cool who is a strong supporter of the NRM was expecting the government to grant his son and the other young players special permission to sit their final S.4 examinations on return, however, this did not come out as expected.

The Ugandan team players, who included Bebe Cool’s son, Ssali left Uganda at a time when the government had set dates and examinations were nearing and in the event were not present to sit for the papers and when they returned after the tournament, there was no special examination set for the boys.

To this, Bebe Cool was quick to state how disappointed he was with the way the Ministry of Education and Sports handled the issue of the young talented football players who missed their final examinations while representing Uganda at the tournament.

On his social media platform, Bebe Cool said government would have organised special exams for the players so that their parents do not have to pay an extra year of fees.

Bebe Cool said football in Uganda collects so many youths mainly those who can’t go to school and also many who drop out.

He suggested that the Ministry of Education meets up with the parents to forge a way forward for their children who missed the exams.
