Buganda Kingdom Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has urged entertainers across Uganda to remain grounded and responsible even after attaining fame, wealth, and public admiration.
Speaking during a public engagement in Kampala, Mayiga cautioned artists against arrogance and reckless lifestyles, saying success should not make them forget the values of respect, discipline, and humility.
He observed that many entertainers begin their careers with strong morals and close ties to their communities, but often change once they gain popularity and financial stability.
“Fame and money should not change who you are,” Mayiga said, emphasizing that the public closely watches the conduct of celebrities and often imitates their behavior.
The Katikkiro encouraged musicians, actors, comedians, and online influencers to become role models capable of inspiring young people through positive actions, hard work, and integrity rather than controversy and misconduct.
He also advised entertainers to plan for the future by investing their earnings wisely and avoiding unnecessary conflicts that could destroy their careers.
Mayiga noted that the entertainment industry has become one of Uganda’s fastest-growing sectors and plays an important role in shaping culture, identity, and social conversations among the youth.
His remarks come amid ongoing public debate about celebrity behavior, social responsibility, and the influence of entertainers on Uganda’s younger generation.
