Frank Gashumba Falls Out With PLU, Spills Secrets

Vocal political, social and entertainment analyst, Frank Gashumba has fallen out with some of the leadership of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU). The movement which is led by the CDF and first son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba claims to be a civic organization that’s aimed at changing the status quo.

However, a recent tweet by Gashumba who is PLU’s vice chairman in the central region seems like it didn’t sit well with those at the hierarchy in the movement. Gashumba in this tweet called upon all heads of security agencies to resign if they can’t ensure Ugandans safety. He then attached a photo of the CDF, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba and the new Police IGP, Abbas Byakagaba.

Immediately, a letter summoning Gashumba to a disciplinary hearing was issued by the PLU Director of Mobilization, Michael Mawanda. However, Gashumba fired back asking Mawanda in which capacity he was summoning him. The businessman said that if he’s to be summoned, it should be by the CDF or IGP.

Additionally, Gashumba said that the manner in which Mawanda summoned him speaks volumes about the disrespect and disregard the legislator has for him. According to him, he has a schedule and responsibilities to fulfill. Besides, Gashumba said that his tweet was addressing all the security heads and not the leadership of the PLU movement.

He then said that he has no confidence that he will get justice in a Mawanda led disciplinary hearing. Gashumba also questioned what Mawanda has done about the Minister who stole rice and meat at a PLU rally in Masaka that was meant to feed peasants.

“Since you are busy summoning me, when are you summoning your friend (a Minister) who embarrassed PLU mobilizers when he stole rice and meat at an event when General Muhoozi Kainerugaba visited Masaka? How can a so-called “Hon Minister” (a person of such title’s) turn himself into a mere petty thief of rice and meat meant for feeding peasants at a public gathering? Prayers alone cannot save this country.

By the way, tell us, when will you appear before CID for corruption and theft of cooperatives money meant for compensation of poor people to the tune of Ugx 164bn?”
