Bobi Wine declares independence for Buganda Kingdom

Former presidential aspirant and the president of the National Unity Platform Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has revealed how Buganda Kingdom is a fully fledged Nation.

According to the former Kyadondo east legislator, the first Kabaka of Buganda, Kintu merged many tribes to form Buganda.

This was about 800 years ago. And it’s still continuing up to even today.

According to the self styled Ghetto gladiator, anyone who embraces Kiganda culture simply becomes a Muganda.

Bobi Wine also dared any historian to challenge him on this topic.

“Buganda is not a #Tribe, it’s a #Nation! Many tribes were united by King Kintu to form Buganda more than 800years ago and this continued to the present day. That’s why anybody who embraces the Ganda culture and values can become Muganda. Any historian can challenge me on this” he tweeted.

It should be noted that it’s not Bobi Wine the first person airing such views .

Former FDC leader, Dr Col Kiiza Besigye also some time ago aired the same views.

He said that most Kingdoms such as Buganda, Nkore, Bunyoro were all independent states before they were forced by the Europeans into one collective unit known as Uganda.

He cited the examples of the National anthems possessed by these kingdoms as one of the instruments of a full functioning state.

However this tweet arose different sentiments with some viewing it through tribal lenses.

Uganda has over 50 tribes and this is one of the factors relied upon when seeking political glory yet can be a boiling pot of terror if not handled properly.
