Police has today arrested former presidential candidate Dr Col Kiiza Besigye.
Besigye was arrested outside his home in Kasangati as he attempted to walk to the city centre. The ex FDC president planned to hold protests against the unreal skyrocketing prices of commodities in the country and the ongoing talks of a political succession.
The city centre has been less than vibrant ever since he stepped back from active politics. And with the high prices of different commodities that keep getting higher with each day, many expected the Opposition leaders to pin the government to do something but in vain.
All they have done has been more theoretical than practical and seem unbothered in their comfort zones as the ordinary man struggles everyday.
Besigye was known as a fierce character who would always put the government on tension whenever things got out of hand such as fuel, taxes and these were usually worked upon.
This no longer seems the case with today’s opposition leaders.
The Muhoozi project of Muhoozi Kainerugaba succeeding his father has also been the talk in the country in the past few weeks especially with his birthday sprees.
