President Museveni congratulates NRM’s endorsed candidates for the Parliament Speaker roles

President Museveni has come out to congratulate the two endorsed candidates that will represent NRM in the race for the Speakership and Deputy speaker roles.

After the CEC sitting at Kololo Independence Grounds on Thursday, it was agreed that Hon Anita Among who has been deptusing the late speaker Hon Jacob Oulanyah takes on the mantle.

The Deputy speaker role will now be taken on by Hon Thomas Tayebwa who has been the government chief whip.

Museveni says that for them in the NRM, it’s not about who but its about what is to he done.

He therefore called upon the elected candidates to give priority to the issues affecting people such as poverty and wealth creation.

There had been fears that MPS from the Acholi region threatened to boycott the entire process if the chosen speaker wasn’t from their region.

This is because Oulanyah had done a lot to stabilize the NRM in the region and this should have been done as a token of appreciation.

Both Among and Tayebwa thanked the NRM for entrusting them with these huge roles.
