The Uganda Police Force has confirmed the repatriation of the body of Magambo Timothy, son of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) Director Tom Magambo, following his tragic death by drowning in the United States.
Family spokesperson Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi said the remains arrived in Uganda at around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, marking the beginning of final funeral rites that will culminate in burial in Masindi District.
Timothy’s sudden death abroad has plunged the Magambo family into mourning and drawn condolences from across Uganda, particularly within the police leadership and government circles where his father serves in a senior role.
A requiem Mass is scheduled for today at 9:00 a.m. at Mbuya Catholic Parish in Kampala, where family members, friends, and senior officers from the security establishment are expected to gather in prayer and tribute.
Following the service, the body will be transported to Kisarabwire Village in Masindi Municipality, the ancestral home of the Magambo family. The procession is expected to draw mourners accompanying the cortege on its final journey to western Uganda.
On Wednesday, a vigil will take place at the family residence of CID Director Tom Magambo, allowing relatives, neighbours, and friends to pay their respects and support the grieving family.
Burial is set for Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Kisarabwire Village, located about two kilometres from Masindi Municipality, according to the official programme released by the family.
Although details surrounding the drowning incident in the U.S. remain limited, the tragedy has prompted an outpouring of sympathy from across the country, with many describing the loss as painful and untimely.
The Magambo family has expressed gratitude for the support received, noting that prayers, messages of comfort, and solidarity have helped them cope during this difficult period as they prepare for the final send-off.
