Police at Old Kampala Division have launched investigations into a murder incident in Bakuli, Kampala Central Division, where a 34-year-old boda boda rider was allegedly killed following a confrontation linked to football supporters’ rivalry.
The incident occurred on 24 May 2026 at approximately 6:30 PM, according to preliminary findings.
The deceased, identified as Denis, was a resident of Bakuli and worked as a boda boda rider operating within the Central Division. He is said to have been involved in a confrontation with a man identified only as Musiramu.
Preliminary police information indicates that Denis, who was reportedly a supporter of Arsenal F.C., and Musiramu, alleged to be a supporter of Manchester United F.C., got into a misunderstanding that escalated from a verbal exchange into a physical fight.
During the altercation, the suspect allegedly struck Denis on the head, causing him to collapse. He was pronounced dead shortly after the incident.
Police say the suspect fled the scene immediately and is currently being pursued.
Residents told investigators that the incident shocked the area, with many rushing to the scene after hearing commotion, only to find the victim already unconscious.
The body of the deceased was taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital for postmortem examination as investigations continue.
