Veteran singer Ronald Mayinja has decided to lift the lid on why he quit Bobi Wine’s Kamyokya based party, NUP.
According to the Tuli ku Bunkenke singer, he’s been silent on what exactly happened from his own perspective.
For so long, many have been branding him a traitor after ditching the party that saw a number of artists join it at the height of the political campaigns last year.
Mayinja while appearing on Urban TV said that he didn’t betray the party.
It was rather Bobi Wine and NUP who betrayed him due to their desire for money.
On being unveiled in NUP, he planned to contest for a Parliamentary seat in Gomba on NUP’s ticket.
Kyagulanyi however sold the ticket to someone else as Mayinja didn’t have the required money.
Besides, he also disagreed with Kyagulanyi’s ideologies.
“I didn’t betray NUP but had just maintained silence on my side to keep peace.
However, after being unveiled by the party, I planned to contest for Parliament but the mukulu sold my ticket to the highest bidder since I didn’t have the money. I just decided to keep quiet and move ahead. Besides I also disagreed with some of his ideologies reason I quit,” said Mayinja.
Further, he asserted how he’s now in NRM and that is a fact that can no longer change.
It should be recalled that Mayinja faced heavy criticism after he ditched NUP for NRM.
Many called him a traitor saying that he had been bought off but he refuted this.
