Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president Dr Col Kiiza Besigye is set to be released from jail after his bail application turned out successful.
Besigye has spent the past few days behind bars at Luzira prison. This is after he was arrested for protesting in the city centre over skyrocketing commodity prices.
Besigye was sent to prison at Nagalama police station together with other two lawmakers.
He was then paraded before before a magistrate court Siena Owomugisha granted him a cash bail of Shs 30m.
He however rejected this bail terming it high handed. He ordered his lawyers to appeal against it as he was sent on remand at Luzira prison.
However justice Michael Elubu overturned this ruling from Shs30m to just Shs 3m at the High Court.
