Ministry of Health provides worrying COVID-19 update

The Ministry of Health under the stewardship of Dr Jane Ruth Aceng has come out to provide a worrying update about the COVID-19 status in the country.

Minister Ruth Aceng through her Twitter page said that the country has reported a surge in the COVID-19 cases. This is higher than the cases reported earlier in January 2022 as the country was gearing up to reopen fully.

She compared this increase to the caes in June 2021 when there was the emergence of rhe Delta variant.

Aceng however said that the country is prepared to handle this situation early enough to save lives. Further she said that there is no indication of imposing travel restrictions or a lockdown.

Its the available preventive measures that will be used by the Ministry to curb down the spread of the deadly virus. The Minister also advised Ugandans to heed by the SOPs that were given out by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry itself. The Ministry also added that vaccination of all the vulnerable people is set to be stamped up.

The world is still recovering from the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic that erupted from Wuhan in China in 2019 spreading across the entire globe. The aftermath effects have more been felt in financial terms although people seem to have forgotten about what the virus caused. Many have abandoned the SOPs.
