Despite having fled Besigye’s camp FDC to Mugisha Muntu’s ANT, former Kasese district woman MP Winnie Kiiza seems to still care about her former boss.
While appearing on NBS TV’S Frontline program, Winnie said that Besigye is not alone in the fight against the skyrocketing commodity prices in the country. He is with Ugandans and Ugandans are also with him.
She added that its unfortunate that the magistrate who sent Besigye behind bars couldn’t see that she’s in the same boat as the rest of the country over the high prices.
Kiiza added that its not only Besigye in prison over this. There others like the Deputy lord mayor of Kampala Doreen Nyanjura.
The former leader of Opposition added that since the president failed to come up with a solution in his recent address, they decided to use the constitution which calls for peaceful demonstrations.
Further, Winnie Kiiza said that Besigye wanted to raise awareness of how the country can get out of this mess. She also feels a little comfortable of the bail conditions given to him.
Beisgye was told by the Buganda road court to pay 30m shillings in cash so he could be released in bail. The former FDC president refused saying that this was unfair before being remanded to Luzira prison.
Lord mayor Erias Lukwago meanwhile on the same show added that he’s struggling to get Besigye out of prison.
