Byabakama has performed worse than his predecessors- Lord mayor Erias Lukwago

The lord mayor of Kampala city Erias Lukwago has branded the chairman of the Electoral Commission Justice Simon Byabakama as very incompetent. In fact his performance has been awful and worse than his predecessors in conducting elections. The lord mayor made these comments while appearing on the NBS Morning Breeze.

The lord mayor further said that elections in Uganda are total disaster. Just a total waste of time and resources. His comments came in the wake of the NRM massively winning the Omoro by election.

Lukwago said that President Museveni has captured all state institutions and these are under his fingertips. He highlighted how the NRM shamelessly gave themselves a big margin in the just concluded election.

“Elections in this country are a disaster. With the kind of impunity we have, however good the law is, it’s a waste of time.

Museveni captured this country. He has control of all institutions. The uniqueness of the Omoro by-election election was about the magnitude of rigging. It’s in a league of its own.”

Furthermore, Mr Lukwago said that the most ridiculous statement the EC chief made was describing the election as the most peaceful one.

The FDC Buganda head also said that elections under the current government are just a mockery of democracy. And therefore what happened in Omoro was premeditated. Byabakama was never in charge of the election but Museveni was as per the lord mayor.

Apparently, the Omoro by election wouldn’t even be a matter of debate because of the results according to Lukwago. This is because the population is engrossed is some sort of hopelessness.
