President Yoweri Museveni, the National Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), has called for a caucus meeting with NRM Members of Parliament (MPs) at State House Entebbe this Friday. The gathering, set for 10 a.m., aims to deliberate on the budget priorities for the 2025/2026 financial year.
In a memo circulated by Government Chief Whip Denis Hamson Obua, all NRM MPs and independents leaning towards the NRM have been directed to attend. The agenda focuses on aligning the party’s objectives with the national budget to ensure that the NRM’s development agenda is effectively represented.
“We have been summoned to discuss the budget priorities for the upcoming financial year,” an anonymous NRM MP disclosed. “This meeting is crucial in ensuring that our party’s agenda is reflected in the national budget.”
In light of health precautions, MPs are required to undergo COVID-19 testing on Wednesday and Thursday at Parliament’s conference hall before attending the meeting.

While the primary focus of this caucus meeting is on budget discussions, there is speculation among some MPs that other pressing issues may also be addressed. These include the recent Supreme Court ruling that limited the powers of the General Court Martial, a topic that has garnered significant attention in recent weeks.
The high turnout anticipated for this meeting underscores its importance, as the outcomes are expected to influence the NRM’s legislative agenda and policy direction in the coming financial year.
