A UPDF retired soldier Capt (Rtd) Lumaga Leon Lwanga a son of the late Capt Sserwanga Lumaga has revealed how people have decided to look past the achievements of the late Gen Elly Tumwine and focus only on the negatives.
Capt Lumaga highlighted one of the late ex Security Minister’s achievements that are hardly known to Ugandans.
This is the Ugandan money. According to Lumaga, this money contains Tumwine’s artwork.
According to Lumaga, its not good to attack someone who can’t defend themselves. And for some Ugandans they just jump onto everything which is a bandwagon effect.
Further Lumaga said that Tumwine was a great patriot who decided to go to the bush and fight for his country yet he had a qualifications for a good job and life.
“The late Gen. Tumwine joined the army after he had finished his degree from Makerere. Those days it was rare for degree holders to join the army because jobs looked for them. His joining the Army shows the love he had for this country.”
While in the bush, Tumwine and group prayed and hoped that they would win the war.
Once this was done, they would change a number of things that were wrong at the time and indeed they did.
Further, it’s wrong to say that the NRM government has done nothing according to Lumaga.
This is because the country is not where it was 35 years ago. Only these baseless assumptions are made by politicians.
