As the country is still fuming after learning the gigantic salaries officials at the Uganda National Airlines earn, Samson Kasumba has come out to defend them and especially the Airline’s CEO Ms Jennifer Bamuturaki who has been on the spot.
Bamuturaki’s salary is at a whooping 87m shillings monthly. This is despite her not possessing the necessary qualifications for the job plus being dubiously appointed by the President.
Bamuturaki by the time of appointment had only a Bachelor’s Degrees in Social Work and Social Administration. She however couldn’t provide the academic papers for this qualification and neither could she avail her Senior 6 UNEB qualifications.
She said that she was yet to acquire her transcript from Makerere University where she allegedly graduated from about almost three decades ago. For the UNEB, papers, Bamuturaki said that these had gotten lost.
However, according to Kasumba he doesn’t see the fuss about Bamuturaki’s salary. This is because she can’t earn like a school headmaster.
Kasumba further added that if she was appointed by the President, it means that she deserves the job. Questioning her potential is putting the President’s abilities and credentials in doubt.
Further Kasumba also said that if people only got to know what he a Bible Theologian pockets for just reading news, they would be dumbfounded.
It should be recalled that Parliament’s COSASE Committee launched an investigation into the filth going on at the Uganda Airlines.
The chairperson of the committee, Nakawa west Mp Hon Joel Ssenyonyi yesterday revealed how the Minister of Tourism Hon Tom Butime called threatening him about the Bamuturaki case.
Ms Bamuturaki is said to be now pursuing a Masters of Arts degree in Public Administration at Makerere University.
