We shall turn every house upside down for accountability and transparency- NBS Journalists

If there is any media house in the country that has its journalists dragged into the mud by social media, it’s Next Media Services main channel NBS TV.

Four of its journalists Samson Kasumba, Canary Mugume, Daniel and Simon Kaggwa Njala have always had their Twitter pages buzzing with outrage from their followers.

And it was the same as they this time round revealed how they are going to turn the houses of different political parties upside down in search of transparency and accountability for the public funds accorded to them.

Canary Mugume through his Twitter page said that every political party willing to participate in a democratic process should be ready to be criticized.

This is because they use public resources to run their services which makes them subject to questioning.

He wondered why some of these political parties want to keep those in power under check but don’t want to be checked. The NBS news anchor said that these shouldn’t always expect for sympathy from the public.

Canary’s workmate Daniel Lutaaya told the politicians to stop attacking journalists for asking questions.

He further said that these parties receive and use public funds. They are therefore questionable to the public adding that the audit among these parties has just started and FDC will be the first to be checked.

Meanwhile today being international world freedom press day, a number of people have come out to hail journalists for their work.

The Archbishop of the Ugandan church Steven Kazimba Mugalu asked journalists to remain ethical, balanced and accurate in their reporting.

The UN secretary General Antonio Guterres applauded journalists saying that without them there is no democracy and freedom.
