The four-day swearing-in ceremony has finally ended with all the 529 Legislators taking the oath. However, Kawempe North Legislator Muhammad Ssegirinya who has been bedridden for a while is among the hundreds that took oath on the final day. The legislators, who now form the 11th Parliament, will officially start their five-year term on Monday, during their first sitting where they will elect the Speaker of Parliament.
All the 529 legislators that are to sit in the 11th Parliament have been sworn in, bringing an end to the four-day exercise, welcoming the highest number of legislators having moved from 426 to 629.
Among those who took the administration of oath was Kawempe North legislator Muhamad Ssegirinya who was presumed that he would miss because of his health. But by 1:30 Pm, Ssegrinya showed up at Parliament in the company of Mityana Municipality legislator Francis Zaake.

After his oath, Ssegirinya told Journalists that it was by God’s grace that he had taken his oath.
Ssegirinya also disclosed his plan for the 200 million shillings to be given to each legislator to procure new vehicles.
With many still questioning the presence of army generals in Parliament, general Katumba Wamala defended their presence in the 11th Parliament.
