Statehouse’s Nakalema intervenes on Buwambo land

The Statehouse Anti Corruption unit has intervened in the Buwambo land wrangle where a 97-year-old woman is being evicted from the land she has owned since the 1950s. It is alleged that Police and district officials connived to evict the senior citizen wrongfully during the lockdown at a time when the government had put a cap on land deals. Col. Edith Nakalema, the State House Anti Corruption Unit head has now promised to investigate the matter and make arrests.

This fence is what is left of what used to be 97-year-old Maimuna Kyomulabe’s home in Wakiso district.

Kyomulabe’s entire homestead was razed in June 2020 and she is now languishing in Buwambo homeless. She however maintains she did not sell her land.

Mohamad Musoke Mujugute who is accused of grabbing this land however says Kyomulabe’s own children sold this land to him

The state house anti Corruption unit head Col. Edith Nakalema has now intervened in the land row.

Col. Nakalema spent the afternoon listening to Maimuna Kyomulabe’s story and promised to fast-track investigations and prosecution of the culprits.
