Residents of Rubaare Town are reeling from shock after a man was found dead under unclear circumstances at Amahoro Bar and Lodges in Rubaare 2 on Friday night.
The man, whose identity remained unknown by the time of reporting, was discovered lying motionless in Room 7 of the popular local establishment, triggering anxiety among locals and prompting a police investigation.
Preliminary information from the lodge management indicates that the deceased had checked in earlier that morning at around 10:00am. He reportedly purchased two bottles of Guinness beer before heading to his room, where he stayed for the rest of the day.
Mr. Niwamanya Bruce, the manager of the lodge, described the discovery as both shocking and distressing.
“We found him unresponsive in his room. It is something we have never experienced here. We are cooperating fully with authorities to understand what happened,” he said.
Local leaders have since raised concerns about safety measures within lodges and bars, particularly the need for proper identification and record-keeping of guests.
Mr. Ndebesa Milton, LC1 Chairperson of Rubaare 2, urged business owners to tighten internal controls and remain vigilant.
“Incidents like this can be avoided if proper procedures are followed. Every guest must be properly registered, and any suspicious behavior reported early,” he emphasized.
Police officers arrived at the scene shortly after the body was discovered and have since launched investigations into the cause of death. The body was later taken for postmortem examination as part of ongoing inquiries.
The incident has left many in the community unsettled, with residents calling for clarity and reassurance as authorities work to uncover what led to the man’s sudden death.
