Disturbing new information has surfaced regarding the unexpected death of Dr. John Spire Kiggundu, the founder of Henrob Hospital located in Zzana. It is important to mention that the medical professional passed away a few days ago and was buried last week in Masaka.
Speculation has begun to circulate about the possibility of foul play in his death, particularly due to the political activism of his younger brother, Dr. Jim Spire Ssentongo. Spire immediately dismissed these claims, confirming that his brother had died due to cardiac arrest, which was only discovered the day after his passing.
However, further reports indicated that CCTV footage recorded a woman entering his room, which has become the focal point of the investigation. Current findings reveal that after police questioned staff at the lodge where the deceased was found, they stated that Dr. John Spire had entered through the back door alone.
He allegedly informed the lodge reception that he planned to stay for just a few hours before leaving. He was then provided with the keys to room 111 (R111), and upon entering, he left the door ajar, suggesting he was awaiting someone’s arrival. Staff reportedly observed that he appeared to be half asleep in his underwear.
Even though he had informed the lodge staff of his brief stay, he had not checked out by 10 am and was still inside. When the cleaning crew arrived at noon, they checked again and found him still asleep in the room, prompting the lodge manager to alert Kajjansi Police Station, leading to the opening of a file.
Upon arrival, police discovered the deceased doctor still asleep, along with $1370, Shs 93000, a phone tablet, his car keys left outside, and two used HIV test kits. They also found bottles of Panadol extra, half-filled bottles of Nivana water, and a Minute Maid juice container.
Additionally, the analysis of the CCTV footage revealed that the woman who entered his room also accessed the premises through the back door. She was seen talking on her phone, but moments later, she hurried out of the lodge carrying a black ‘kaveera.’ Notably, the same time this unidentified woman exited the lodge was when the doctor’s phones were reportedly turned off.
Police are now focused on identifying this woman by reviewing the deceased’s call logs. This information will assist in determining what occurred in the lodge. Family members of the late doctor have also been questioned to help expedite the investigations.
