Bebe Cool Eyes East African Domination with New Album ‘Break the Chains’

Ugandan music icon Bebe Cool is back with a bang—this time with a bold new sound and an ambitious plan to conquer the East African music scene. Following the release of his latest album, Break the Chains, the legendary artist has kicked off a series of high-energy promotional efforts both at home and beyond.

Having graced multiple Ugandan media platforms and events—including a buzzing performance at DJ Carlos Perez’s show and collaborations like Cheque with rising star Joshua Baraka—Bebe Cool is now expanding his focus beyond national borders.

His next move? A highly anticipated African tour, starting with a return to Nairobi, Kenya—a city that holds a special place in his heart.

“Nairobi is where my musical journey began. It’s home,” Bebe Cool remarked emotionally. “It’s where I was mentored and shaped into who I am today.”

In the early days of his career, Bebe Cool lived modestly in Nairobi before he was discovered and introduced to professional studios, a turning point that launched his meteoric rise in the region. Over the years, he’s maintained close ties with Kenya’s music industry, working with top artists like K-Rupt, Redsan, Nameless, Wyre, Nazizi, and even shooting iconic videos like Love You Everyday and Go Mama on Kenyan soil.

Now, with Break the Chains, Bebe Cool is diving into contemporary genres such as Afrobeats, Afrotech, and Afroelectronic—crafting a sound that’s both innovative and commercially vibrant. Featuring collaborations with African heavyweights like Yemi Alade (African Love) and local talents like Joshua Baraka (Cheque), the album has already garnered nearly a million streams since its May release.

With Nairobi as his first stop, Bebe Cool is expected to reconnect with both veterans and emerging talents across Kenya’s music scene. This tour marks not just a celebration of his legacy but a daring new chapter—one that pushes boundaries and redefines what East African music can achieve.
