Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba continues to defend the M23 rebels in DR Congo

Former Commander of the Land Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has continued to defend the M23 rebels based in the Eastern part of DRC by saying that they are a group just fighting for their rights as a Tutsi group since they have been violated by the Congolese government in Kinshasa.

The first son has therefore called upon the Kinshasa government to agree and engage in peace talks with the M23 leaders than using military means to settle the conflict.

“Nobody should mock our brothers in M23, I heard some people saying that they can defeat them in a day? Okay. That’s what Obote used to say about NRA in Luweero. When we convince them to withdraw for peace. They shall do it because they are serious partners for peace in DRC,” said Muhoozi.

With the fighting intensifying and escalating in Eastern DRC, the M23 have captured a great deal of territory recently in the region.

Talks are however ongoing between Kinshasa and Kigali and these are focused on finding diplomatic ways to end the conflict and crisis .

The Congolese government has for some time now accused Rwanda of supporting the M23 tp fight while Kigali has also been accusing Kinshasa for supporting FDLR a Hutu dominated rebel group that wants to overthrow the government of Rwanda.

Ex Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta is among the top world statesmen that have taken centre stage to make sure that peace returns to Eastern DRC.
