President Uhuru Kenyatta refused to congratulate me on my win- William Ruto

The President elect of Kenya William Samoei Ruto has lifted the lid on his relationship with the outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta.

It should be recalled that the two were very good friends while launching their presidential ambitions about 10 years ago which saw Uhuru rise to the pinnacle of Kenyan politics.

It was expected that after Uhuru’s ten year reign, he would endorse his Deputy, William Ruto.

However things took a twist in the election that brought Uhuru to his second 5 year term.

This saw him join forces with his opponent Raila Odinga. Odinga was there and then appointed in the Uhuru regime.

And it was no secret that Uhuru backed Odinga in the just concluded election against his friend and long term ally, Ruto.

Despite Ruto winning this highly contested election that even had to be decided by the Supreme Court, Kenyatta is yet to concede defeat of his candidate.

He’s yet to congratulate Ruto on his win according to the President elect.

While speaking to CNN in an exclusive one on one interview, Ruto said that he supported Ruto for the past 10 years unconditionally.

He’s therefore not angered that Uhuru decided to support his opponent. This is because he’s an adult who can freely make his own choices.

And on why he’s yet to congratulate him, Ruto said that Kenyatta might not be happy that he defeated his candidate.

However, some sections of social media users have called Ruto a liar about this.

This is because he yesterday revealed that he had had a phone call conversation with Uhuru.

The duo talked about the election and democratic transition.

They therefore wondered how they could talk about such a topic without Uhuru congratulating Ruto.

Others however sided with him calling Kenyatta a hypocrite.
