NUP MP Twaha Kagabo bows to Bobi Wine pressure, finally returns 40m shillings

Hon Twaha Kagabo (Mzee Mzee) the MP of Bukoto South in Lwengo district who subscribes to the National Unity Platform has finally returned back the 40m shillings he took from Parliament.

This followed the directive from the party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine to all party MPs to take back the 40m shillings he termed as a bribe from the Speaker of Parliament back.

According to Twaha, he and other opposition MPs received about 40m shillings each at the home of the current speaker of Parliament, Hon Anita Among.

This was in appreciation of them for passing both the supplementary budget for State House and the Classified Expenditure.

The office of the Speaker however has for a long time trashed this piece of news calling it baseless allegations.

Twaha was however asked whether he had returned the money to the Speaker’s office personally. He simply didn’t answer this question satisfactorily but maintained that it had reached back where it previously came from.

The MP further vowed to expose all the opposition MPs who took the money but are deliberately refusing to return it. He went ahead to give them a one week ultimatum to expose them if they don’t return it.

The public was left furious and shocked a few months ago after details leaked showing how some legislators had been given Shs 40 million each as a token of appreciation for passing the supplementary budget.

However, those who had vehemently opposed it were left dismayed after learning that some of the opposition counterparts had taken part in this disturbing process.

It’s however also reported that Twaha at first took the money to the office of the Leader of Opposition, Hon Mathias Mpuuga who declined to handle the money and instead told him to take it back to where he had gotten it from.
