EPL Ku NBS Sport: Tottenham aiming for perfect start

Tottenham Hotspur will be aiming at making a perfect start to their 2022-23 Premier League campaign when they welcome Southampton to North London on Saturday.

Antonio Conte’s side finished fourth last season and are therefore preparing for a return to the Champions League.

Their opponents though didn’t enjoy their season last term as they finished 15th, just five points above relegation.

Looking at their performance especially at the end of the season where they won their last four games, and the kind of business they’ve done in the transfer window, onlookers are tipping the Lilywhites to be the best of the rest behind Manchester City and Liverpool, who could still go head-to-head for the title.

They have been able to boost their squad with the acquisition of Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Djed Spence, Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Clement Lenglet who comes on loan from Barcelona.

Given Conte’s side had the fourth-best home record in the Premier League last season, picking up 40 points from 19 matches, they’re expected to find less resistance against a Southampton team that only won nine times last season.

Southampton also during their preseason, registered just a solitary victory out of the five they played.

Team News

Tottenham will be without the services of their new signings Richarlison due to suspension, while Bissouma is also a doubt. Oliver Skip is also out due to a foot fracture.

Southampton meanwhile will be without Nathan Tella and Theo Walcott. Tino Livramento is also a long-term absentee. Tottenham vs Southampton will be live on NBS Sport.
