Meetings between different countries in the East African bloc continue to increase in a bid to find a common and easy way of working together in different aspects of their day to day running.
The leaders of these countries met yesterday where President Museveni urged the member countries to work together because they have a large market for their goods.
Museveni in his address said that East Africa could in fact become the United States of Africa and not Latin America. This meeting took place in Arusha, Tanzania where the headquarters of the EAC sit.
According to Museveni integrating the markets in the region and the Continent is the best way to survive. He cited the USA which is rich and powerful because of its market and size.
He also expressed his gratitude towards the private sector which is also embracing this idea of integration. The president further cited countries like Germany that were unified by business groups.
The President also added that the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia-Ukraine crisis has showed that East Africa needs to wake up. This is due to the fact that markets were paralyzed by the pandemic plus this crisis. It partly explains why prices of basic commodities have skyrocketed.
