DP president Norbert Mao has come out to hit at all critics that are demanding for his resignation as the party president. This followed his being appointed as the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs by President Museveni yesterday.
The appointment came shortly after Mao met with Museveni at State House Entebbe and the two signed a working agreement.
DP diehards have been spitting blood and fire saying that what he did whatever he did on his own and not their president. Some have even threatened to desert the party.
However, while appearing on NBS TV’s Frontline program, Mao said that he’s still the DP president and he’s not going anywhere soon.
Mao added that Ugandans should see something they have never seen before and that is change of power without bloodshed. According to Mao, the country is hanging on a cliff and one wrong move will result into unprecedented turmoil. Therefore this agreement is meant to help find the middle ground to a peaceful transition. Mao also outlined the contents of the agreement he signed with Museveni that includes fighting corruption, peaceful transition of power among others.
Mao also highlighted about his appointment as the new minister of Justice. The DP president said that its not accident. Its however a role he’s set to use to spearhead the National transition.
Mao went ahead to say that Ugandans shouldn’t be misled by opportunistic politicians who say that the deal he signed is bad. Its a good one that will bear positive fruits eventually.
Mao is set to appear in Parliament today to be vetted on and see if he’s capable of carrying out the roles of the office delegated to him.
