Ramathan Ggoobi explains why he joined the Ministry of Finance

The current Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Ramathan Ggoobi has revealed why he decided to join the Ministry of Finance. Ggoobi who is one of the most renowned economists in the country said that his sole purpose was to change the way the Government draws its budgets and he indeed achieved this.

According to Ggoobi, when one’s budgeting, they have to balance stocks so that they are not distracted from their long term and short terms plans and this is what this budget achieved.

He further asked Ugandans to start believing that things can actually change for the better. Ggoobi further said that as a student of public sector economics, he learnt that to improve the public sector, one should start with the budget.

The PS also highlighted about the Parish Development Model being created by government to help citizens overcome poverty.

According to Ggoobi he’s excited about this project because the resources will go to the people and they will decide how to use them.
