NRM’s Lydia Wanyoto wants votes recounted

NRM flag bearer for the Mbale City woman Member of Parliament position Lydia Wanyoto has written to the Electoral Commission (EC) seeking to have the votes she received during the recent elections recounted.

Wanyoto while briefing the press at her home in the Industrial City Division said that she did not receive declaration forms from a number of Town Councils and thus claims she needs to have the tallying repeated.

She states that declaration forms from Nakaloke, Bugema, Nauyo and Bungokho-Mutoto polling stations went missing and until now have not been found, something she has been questioning.

She says she is still waiting on them.

“I am still waiting for the declaration forms that went missing. I have not received them up to now.”

She also said she was not given the chance and the time to make a complaint during the tallying. She also claims that the situation during tallying was not favourable for her to raise complaints.

“I was disappointed with the security at the tallying centre that some of us could not even rise up and lodge our complaints because we feared to be lynched by the hooligans. I am a lawyer by profession and I’m still waiting for the communication from the party leadership before I act.”

Wanyoto also said Wanyoto that she has written to her party’s leadership for advice as she goes up against the process.
