The Director, Communication & Public Affairs in the Parliament of Uganda Chris Obore has come out to say that Uganda is a paradise inhabited by confused people. He made the remarks while appearing on NBS Morning Breeze program.
This was in relation to President Museveni’s recent SONA segment that talked about the controversial coffee agreement that Uganda government signed with the Vinci company. Museveni defended the agreement saying that its a good one since it will have value added to Ugandan coffee.
This agreement was however vehemently criticized by the different coffee sector players. These deemed it so exploitative. Obore however defended Museveni saying that the president has been talking about value addition for long.
He however seems to be talking to deaf people who don’t appreciate such moves.
Obore also addressed another controversial issue in the country which is the purchase of two monstrous luxurious vehicles.
These were purchased at over 2 billion shillings and are meant to be given to the speaker and Deputy speaker of Parliament. This was also criticized by majority of the public because the move comes at a time the country is undergoing an economic turmoil.
Obore said that this decision was taken way back in February and not just now. He said that these will be replacing those that have been in place for the last 15 years. And besides they will belong to the Parliament and not individuals.
