The medals handed out on Heroes day were handouts- Hon Ssemujju Nganda

Kiira Municipality MP Hon Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda while appearing on NBS TV’s Frontline program described the medals handed out to different personalities yesterday on the 9th of June which is designated as heroes day in Uganda as mere handouts.

The celebrations of this day took place at Kololo Independence grounds and were spearheaded by the PM Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja who represented President Museveni.

About 81 people were handed medals for their distinguished service towards serving their country. Among those honored were Fred Enanga, the Police spokesperson.

Ssemujju however said that these medals are given to people who actually deserve no recognition.

Ssemujju further added that the day became so partisan. This is because there is a committee in place to hunt down for the heroes.

According to Ssemujju there are other public days such as Tarehesita and Liberation day which are NRM days. These are therefore bound to be scrapped off the calendar by the next president after Museveni because he doesn’t see any other president furthering them ahead.

Ssemujju also recalled a scenario of how Museveni omitted the name of Gen Sejusa from his book Sowing The Mustard Seed. The MP said that Museveni always kept a diary during the Bush war and always noted down everything.

However, Sejusa’s name was omitted during publishing because he had annoyed Museveni.
