NUP Secretary General decries election malpractice in Omoro by-election

The Secretary General of the National Unity Platform (NUP) David Lewis Rubongoya has come out to decry election malpractice on the side of the ruling regime, the NRM.

Rubongoya revealed that the NRM spent the previous night bribing voters with different items like sugar, soap etc. Besides there was confiscating of people power t-shirts and replacing them with those of NRM.

Plus there was also intimidating of voters with guns according to the NUP SG.

Further, Rubongoya said that the same regime which has been claiming to be popular in the North has been in panic mode arresting the supervisors and agents of NUP. This is after they failed in their attempts to ballot stuff as NUP had deployed agents early morning.

He also said that their goal in this election has been to reawaken the people and give them hope of overcoming the grief of hunger and poverty.

The election is already underway as voters have been thronging different polling stations to cast their votes as they choose an MP to fill the vacancy left by the fallen speaker Hon Jacob Oulanyah.
