Video: Ofwono Opondo refuses to apologize for thumping Erias Lukwago

Ofwono Opondo who is the speaker of the Ugandan government has come out to address his recent fist fight with Kampala lord mayor Erias Lukwago.

Appearing on the Frontline where the incident happened three weeks ago for the first time since then, Opondo said that whatever happened was regrettable and unfortunate.

He added that its not a representation of who he is. Opondo only promised that this won’t ever happen again.

He then proceeded to caution his fellow panelists and those that will be coming in future to make sure that they treat each other with respect so that such a thing doesn’t happen again.

Ofwono didn’t at at any one time say that he’s sorry for whatever happened.

“Three weeks ago we had an outburst which resulted into a shouting match particularly with my young brother the lord mayor Erias Lukwago. It escalated into a situation that did not allow the show to go on coming to an abrupt end. This is something regrettable and unfortunate. I want to say to say to our viewers the general public and even if you didn’t watch that show.”

“I want to say that the incident doesn’t reflect who I’m because I’m the longest serving panelist on the show. I promise it won’t happen again in the future. And I would want to believe that my copanelists and the guests who come will try to ensure that we don’t handle each other in a manner that leads to failure to understand each other,” said OO.

Meanwhile National Unity Platform’s leader Bobi Wine criticized the NBS for hosting the same person who assaulted an entire lord mayor on TV.
