My life is in danger after speaking about the corruption in Police- Sam Omara

Former serving police officer Afande Sam Omara has revealed that his life is in danger. The retired police officer said this in a press conference he held.

Omara claims that there are weevils (kawukumi) in Police . He accuses the force he was once part of for conniving with criminals and wants the IGP Martin Okoth Ochola to take action.

Further, he adds that he couldn’t talk about corruption and the weevils when he was still a serving officer because the laws could not permit him to do so.

Omara compared himself to the late AIGP Muhammad Kirumira who talked about such cases and was gunned down and killed.

“I came into existence on March 1st 1960. I therefore don’t know when this life will end. I am scared but not very scared, ” he said.

According to Omara, he’s received numerous threats ever since he started to expose the Police’s filth.

In December last year, Omara who retired from the Police force in 2020 appeared in an interview with NBS TV where he made a number of revelations which included turning down a bribe of 200 million shillings that was offered to him by the Opposition to let them go on with their walk to work protests.

The retired police officer then revealed how he at times regrets not having taken the bribe because the government does not recognize and appreciate the efforts of officers who risked it all to serve the country diligently.
