Late Hon Jacob Oulanyah’s father won’t speak at burial- here’s why

It has been reported that the father of the late speaker Hon Jacob Oulanyah’s father Nathan Okori won’t be speaking at his son’s burial that will happen today.

According to the Daily Monitor, Oulanyah’s father wasn’t included on the list of the funeral’s speakers.

He’s only been allowed to welcome mourners at his home in Omoro. A member of the family Ms Santa Alum Ogwang the woman MP for Oyam district confirmed the news.

She however said that this was done in order to protect Mr Okori’s frail health. It’s said that he’s currently weak and hasn’t recovered from the shock of losing his son.

“Mzee is right now too weak, he can’t walk easily and can’t speak easily due to the bereavement. This, to us, is understandable because he needs more comfort than being exposed to emotional speeches,” Ms Ogwang said.

Oulanyah is set to be laid to rest at his ancestral home today 8th April 2022. The speaker passed on two weeks ago in Seattle US where he had been hospitalized for over a month.

The Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng revealed that Oulanyah succumbed to multiple organ failure.
