The Government Chief Whip Hon Thomas Tayebwa has come out to blast MPs who are making it a point of making Government jobs about tribes.
This followed reports that MPS from the Acholi subregion are trying to ring fence the Parliament Speaker job.
These allegedly want an MP from the region to retain the office since the late Hon Jacob Oulanyah who they are trying to replace was from the area.
Tayebwa gave an example that in case President Museveni ceases to be president, westerners will also be demanding that the presidency be reserved for people from that region.
He went ahead to question why there was never alarm when the two heads of the two Government arms, Legislature and Judiciary were from the same region.
The MP adds that if anyone’s argument on replacing Hon Jacob Oulanyah is based on region, they should go to hell.
This has become quite a common phenomenon for tribes and regions to ring fence Government jobs whenever a sitting person dies.
This was seen in Kabale among some Bakiga after some of them requested president Museveni to reserve the position of the Governor for the Bank of Uganda for only Bakiga.
This was after the Prof Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile passed away when he was still holding the position for Governor Bank of Uganda.
