The Ministry of Education and Sports has started making plans to have schools reopened for all learners as opposed to the previous plan that has only candidate classes resume school as a result of the coronavirus crisis that got all schools closed and studying paused.
The recommendation by the Ministry of Education to have all classes resume studies is still under review and it will take their counterparts, the Ministry of Health to have the plan approved.
According to sources close to the Ministry of Education that preferred anonymity told Let Out News that top officials are seeking a system that would enable easy transition to the next classes and allow for continuity in the system.
As it stands, it is only semi-candidate classes that are expected to join the candidate classes for the second phase of re-opening, but it is thought that having all resume studies be the better option.
“There were meetings which were supposed to be held but weren’t. After elections, we are going to meet and decide which classes and when they can go. We had agreed that we allow only semi-candidate classes but we found out that it is going to disrupt the system. As such, we agreed to have all of them go back including the Senior Ones and Twos,” the source said.
It is expected that once a decision is reached regarding the matter, parents will be let know this coming week.
