Renowned Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) administrator and former Uganda boxing team captain Zebra Isaac Ssenyange alias “Mando” has been shot dead at his home in Bwaise.
Zebra as commonly known was murdered in the wee hours of Wednesday when unknown gunmen raided his home, picked him up before showering him with live bullets.
Zebra was Uganda Boxing Federation Head of General Duties and owned a boxing club in Bwaise known as the Zebra Boxing Club.
Zebra during his active moments as a boxer captained the Bombers to the 10th All Africa Games held in Maputo City, Mozambique in 2011.
In 2012 he turned Professional and debuted against Kenya’s Patrick Amote.
According to the official professional boxing database, Zebra’s last fight was a technical knockout win over Abbey Kebedi on April 18th, 2019. He has 12 fights, 10 wins and two draws.
The deceased leaves behind a wife, and boxing coach, Mercy Mukakunsi who is also a Boxing coach and a son Boxer Junior Isaac Ssenyange.
According to the latest developments, Police is said to have started investigations into the murder of Zebra and we will be bringing you details as they emerge.
This is just another murder happening during the electoral period only that this time round, the killing did not happen during any procession.
Our sources that prefer anonymity can confirm that the former boxer had turned into a protector of revelers during the late hours, who had become a target for the ‘Kifeesi’ groups around Kampala.
He is also said to be a former trainer of National Unity Platform presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine.
