Entebbe, Uganda — A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Katabi, Entebbe, after a 34-year-old woman identified as Sarah Nakintu took her own life and that of her six-month-old baby by plunging off a cliff into the waters of Lake Victoria.
According to reliable sources, Nakintu was overwhelmed with emotional distress after discovering that her husband had been having an affair. It is reported that she accessed his smartphone and found intimate messages and images suggesting a daily romantic involvement with another woman.
Eyewitnesses at the Katabi cliffs reported seeing Nakintu in the early morning hours, holding her baby tightly to her chest. Despite attempts by bystanders to approach and speak to her, she appeared distant and withdrawn. Moments later, she took the fatal leap into the lake, shocking onlookers.
A suicide note left at the scene revealed her deep emotional turmoil. In the note, Nakintu expressed feelings of betrayal and despair, stating that she had “dedicated everything” to her husband, only to be deceived and left heartbroken.
“I gave him my all. I built our home with love and loyalty, only to be repaid with lies. I cannot bear the pain,” the note reportedly read.
Police and marine authorities were immediately alerted and launched a recovery operation. By press time, efforts were ongoing to retrieve the bodies from the water.
The tragedy has left the Katabi community in shock, with many expressing sadness over the emotional burden that led to such a devastating decision. Community leaders have since urged couples to seek counseling and support in the face of relationship difficulties, emphasizing that no betrayal should cost anyone their life.
This incident is a somber reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and the urgent need for accessible emotional support systems, particularly for women facing domestic struggles in silence.
