Information reaching this website suggests that Yasin Ssekitoleko, widely known as Machete and an incarcerated bodyguard of NUP president Bobi Wine, is set to remain imprisoned. This situation arose after his father reportedly declined to apologize to Chief of Defense Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
It has been reported that Gen Muhoozi requested an apology from Machete’s father as a condition for his son’s release, but this apology was not provided. Further reports indicate that Machete’s father believes it would be disrespectful to kneel and apologize to a man he has watched grow up, given that he is older than him.
It is important to note that Machete, along with eight other individuals, has been held at Kitalya prison for over five years. They were arrested during the last general elections on charges of allegedly attempting to overthrow the government.
A few months back, Machete made headlines after reportedly going on a hunger strike to denounce the ‘fabricated charges’ against him. As a father of two, his life will undoubtedly be forever changed if he somehow manages to leave prison alive.
