The National Resistance Movement (NRM) continues to strengthen its leadership structures after holding a key meeting with newly elected district, city, and municipality chairpersons. The meeting, which took place at Hotel Africana in Kampala, was led by the NRM First National Vice Chairman Alhajji Moses Kigongo and Party Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong.
The three-day gathering, themed “Strengthening Leadership and Accountability for Enhanced Service Delivery”, focused on preparing the new leaders to deliver on the party’s promises and improve services across Uganda.
Also present were NRM Vice Chairman for the Western Region and Minister for ICT and National Guidance Hon. Chris Baryomunsi, and Government Chief Whip Hon. Hamson Obua, who joined in congratulating the newly elected chairpersons.
While addressing the participants, Alhajji Moses Kigongo called on leaders to be flexible and strategic in their roles.
“As leaders, you must adapt to different situations. If the methods you are using are not working, it is wise to change tactics so that your goals are achieved,” he advised.
He emphasized that service delivery and accountability should be at the center of every leader’s work, especially at the local government level, where citizens feel the direct impact of policy decisions.
Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong encouraged the chairpersons to remain loyal to the party’s values and to work closely with communities. He highlighted the importance of listening to the people, promoting unity, and avoiding corruption.
Hon. Chris Baryomunsi reminded leaders that digital transformation is key in the current governance era. He urged them to embrace ICT to improve communication, transparency, and efficiency in service delivery.
The chairpersons expressed appreciation for the training and committed to using their new knowledge to drive development in their respective areas.
This high-level engagement reflects NRM’s ongoing efforts to build a responsive and people-centered leadership structure across the country. By empowering local leaders, the party aims to ensure that government services reach citizens faster, better, and more effectively.
