One of the rapidly ascending female leaders in Ugandan politics, Desire Muhooza, has declared her intention to run for the parliamentary position of Kiboga District as the woman MP. She shared the official campaign posters on her social media accounts that will be utilized to secure this seat.
Representing the NRM party, a political group she is widely recognized with, Muhooza will campaign under the slogan “for the prosperity of people and promoting income in homes.”
So, who exactly is Desire Muhooza?
She identifies herself as a Ugandan youth committed to transforming the socio-economic landscape for young people. As an emerging entrepreneur and farmer, she aims to positively influence youth policies and national legislation. This is her primary motivation for actively participating in politics—to bring about genuine change and transformation for her community.

This will not be Muhooza’s first foray into national politics. In the 2021 elections, she competed for the position of national youth female MP but was unsuccessful against the current State Minister for Energy, Hon Phiona Nyamutooro.
Muhooza is expected to encounter strong competition from the sitting woman MP, Hon Kaaya Christine Nakimwero, who is running on the NUP ticket. Other candidates may also emerge as the election approaches. However, with her youthful energy, charisma, and commitment to change and transformation, Muhooza will be an excellent choice for the residents of Kiboga.
