Athletes ready for source of Nile half marathon

Over 20 Athletes are set for the Source of the Nile Half Marathon that will take place this Sunday in the City of Jinja and its suburbs.

UFA publicist Namayo Mawerere says the event will be used by the different athletes as preparation for the various events they are set to compete in this year including the Tokyo Olympics.

“Many of the athletes want to test themselves as they prepare for the international road races, other its a build-up for Tokyo and others its build-up to national championships because on that very day the champion will be announced.”

There will be prize money for the top five best performers with the top prize being worth UGX 550,000.

“There is also Prize Money ranging from UGX 550,000 for the winner to 150 to the 5th placed,” Mawerere announced.

Long Distance Athletes from all over the country are expected to grace the 21 km Source of the Nile Marathon
