The National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has today launched a vote monitoring I.T application to record and monitor the January 14th election results countrywide.
In his End of Year address on January 3,2021 at his home in Magere, the presidential hopeful said the App dubbed #UVote will be the NUP’s tally center manned by a team of digital experts.
Kyagulanyi said they will share this app with Ugandans via whatsApp
“We have been building an app that will help us bring together the results of this election and we shall send it to you by WhatsApp. With that app, you ensure that you get the declaration form, take a picture and send it to that application.”
He also said the NUP election agents country wide will be in charge of sending the declaration forms, however, Ugandans are also expected to take charge and share the forms.
“Ugandans can also take photos and share on that application because this is not about agents. This is a revolutionary election that will determine the future of Uganda.”
The application according to Kyagulanyi will be available for download on Google play store and App store before the January 14th, 2021, the date when Ugandans go to the polls.
The NUP president expressed disappointment in the security forces that he says are still holding ninety members of his team without trial.
“They arrested my team to cut our speed but we want to urge the Uganda Police to release them because they do not have any crime.”
Kyagulanyi also vowed to use the remaining days to campaign in all the districts were he has not yet reached, including the districts were campaigns were suspended by the Electoral Commission.
