Malaysia-based bubble tea and ice cream franchise Ai-CHA Food SG PTE. LTD has officially opened its first outlet in Uganda, marking its entry into the country’s growing dessert and beverage market.
The grand opening was held today in Kampala, with the company positioning affordability as its biggest selling point.
“Our prices are very friendly for the local population, ranging from UGX 3,000 to UGX 8,000. We want everyone to afford and enjoy our products,” the Marketing Manager said at the launch.
The first outlet is located at Ham Towers, a spot the company chose because of its proximity to major institutions including Makerere University and other training centres.
“We are targeting students, young people, women and children — anyone who loves trendy products,” she said.
She added that the brand’s uniqueness lies in its wide range of flavors, especially its bubble tea blends and ice cream varieties.
“Our ice cream is very unique. We have flavors not common on the market — grape blends, mango smoothies and different boba combinations.”
Globally, the company offers more than 100 flavors but has started Uganda with a smaller menu to study customer preferences.
“We localize our menu based on what Ugandans love. For example, we are introducing mango ice cream next month after customer requests.”
The Kampala outlet operates under a franchise model and is the first of many planned across the country.
“Our target is to have at least 50 outlets in Kampala, and we are also expanding to cities like Mbarara, Gulu and Mbale.”
So far, the first branch has created five jobs, with more expected as expansion picks up.
