Uganda’s Richest Man Sudhir Ruparelia Warns Public About Fake X Account Promising Money

Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, Uganda’s wealthiest businessman and Chairman of the Ruparelia Group, has issued a serious warning to the public about a fake account impersonating him on X (formerly Twitter).

The fraudulent account, operating under the handle @RupareliaSudhi, has been circulating misleading posts, including fake money giveaways. Sudhir has clarified that he does not own or operate any X account, and all communication from that profile is false and deceptive.

“It has come to my attention that a fake account impersonating me has been created on X… I do not own or operate any account on X. Any communications or posts from that account should be disregarded as fraudulent and misleading,” read a statement issued by Sudhir and widely shared across other verified platforms.

The impersonating account is said to have targeted unsuspecting users with fake promises of cash rewards and business offers, hoping to scam victims by exploiting Sudhir’s well-known generosity and status. Several followers online have already flagged the account for suspicious activity.

Sudhir urged the public to stay vigilant and report the impersonator immediately to X for removal. He emphasized that all his official communications are done through trusted business channels, not on X or other unofficial social media platforms.

This warning comes just weeks after Sudhir tragically lost his only son, Rajiv Ruparelia, in a car accident—making the impersonation even more insensitive and harmful.

The Ruparelia Group, with interests in real estate, banking, education, and hospitality, is one of East Africa’s most influential business empires. As a respected figure in Uganda and beyond, Sudhir’s image is often targeted by scammers seeking to take advantage of his influence and the trust people have in him.

Members of the public are advised to be cautious when dealing with social media accounts claiming to represent public figures and to verify information through credible sources.
