Israel-Lebanon Ceasefire Reached Amid Gaza Conflict

A ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, mediated by the U.S., is set to take effect at 4 a.m. local time on Wednesday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the agreement, highlighting its focus on countering the Iranian threat and bringing stability to the northern front. This truce does not cover the ongoing hostilities in Gaza, where Israel continues its military operations against Hamas.

U.S. President Joe Biden praised the deal, emphasizing the need for regional peace while urging an end to Gaza’s humanitarian crisis.

Despite the ceasefire in Lebanon, the Gaza conflict remains intense, with airstrikes and a firm Israeli stance against Hamas. Diplomatic efforts to extend ceasefire negotiations to Gaza are underway, but significant obstacles persist.
